Albert Cirera is a mature, adventurous, risky, and brave musician who throughout his career has walked countless paths; he has always been driven by his need to explore new languages in the lands of classical jazz, free jazz or free improvisation, merely to prove that music is not a simple matter of style but of experience.

Cirera is currently one of the most eclectic and exceptional Iberian saxophonists. He is strongly connected to Portugal, and Lisbon, a city where he lived for five years.
Albert Cirera leads his groups: AC and Kamarilla, AC i Tres Tambors, and CIREROT, a solo saxophone project. He also co-leads DUOT, with Ramon Prats; a partnership that started more than 15 years ago. In addition, he plays regularly with Andy Moor, Abdul Moimeme, Olie Brice, Joao Lencastre, Agustí Ferndez, Valeria Miracapillo, Nicolas Field, Florian Stoffner, Johannes Nastesjo and Clara Lai.

Albert Cirera is one of the most active and versatile Iberian musicians in Europe, on the free jazz and improvised music scene. In the past 10 years, he has participated in more than 50 recordings with musicians such as: Andy Moor, Barry Guy, Olie Brice, Marcelo dos reis, Carlos Zingaro, Ramon Prats or Agustí Fernandez. He has also performed at European festivals: Jazz em Agosto in Lisbon (Portugal), Jazz A Lúz in Luz-Saint-Sauveur (France) or Spontaneous Music Festival in Poznan (Polonia), and some international like Buenos Aires Jazz Festival (Argentina), not to mention different clubs in Europe, Argentina, Cuba, Russia, and Japan.

He lived for 10 years in Barcelona, where he grew up as a musician, playing with Agustí
Fernandez, Ramon Prats, Vasco Trilla, Núria Andorrà, David Mengual or Massa Kamaguchi. After that, he moved to Lisbon, where he consolidated himself as what he is now: creative, inventive, and versatile musician. In Lisbon he played with Joao Lencastre, Carlos Zingaro, Gabriel Ferrandini, Herânin Faustino and Abdul Moaimem. He finally spent 2 years in Copenhagen, during his master’s at RMC. Blissfully played together with Kresten Osgood, Henrik Olsson, Valeria Miracapillo, Hakon Berre or Aurelijus Uzameckis. Other buddies on the stage are Barry Guy, Andy Moor (the Ex), Joe Morris, Ernesto Rodrigues, Jordina Millà, Nicolas Field, Florian Stoffner, Silvia Bologniesi, Hugo Antunes, Massa Kamaguchi, David Mengual, Paula Chocron, Don Malfon, Witold Olszak, Nuno Rebelo, Rafal Mazur, Ferran Fages, and many more.

He lives a frantic life leading A.C. i Tres Tambors – 2 albums released: “Els encants” (FSNT, 2012) and “Suite Salada” (Underpool, 2017). He is also, leader of A.C. i Kamarilla, with the album “Aquella Cosa” (Underpool, 2022). And lastly, CIREROT, his solo saxophone project. In 2022 he launched a European Tours, with more than 30 concerts introducing “ÂMAGO”. For more than 15 years, uninterruptedly, with the drummer Ramon Prats, they carried the project DUOT. Nonetheless, he also plays in duo formation with other great musicians from Europe: N. Field, F. Stoffner, W. Olesac, F.Fages, among others. Additionally, he participates in projects of other musicians: Joao Lencastres Comunion, Fragoso Quinteto, Fail Better or Dissection Room in Portugal; Granular Bastards or The Moms, in Denmark, and Agustí Fernandez Líquid Trio/Quintet and Clara Lai Quartet, in Catalonia. Albert Cirera interests goes further and participates in interdisciplinary performances: in the recent years, Cirera has performed with dancers Jenny Nocedo (Cuba), Juliette Louste (Islandia), Tura Gomez Coll or Sonia Sanchez; the painters Antoni Carné and Xavier Gabriel, or the visual artist Artur Tort.

To round it all up, Albert Cirera is an active organizer of “L’Estival de Jazz d’Igualada”, the “Cicle Cuir de Músiques Inclassificables”, both festivals in Igualada, where he currently lives. In 2024, with Ramon Prats, they are the creators and organizers of CIMIC (Circuit Itinerant de Música Improvisada de Catalunya).
